Why do we process personal data?
We process your personal data in accordance with the purpose for which it was provided. Sometimes this involves a question we answer for you; you may be taking part in a competition*; you may be responding to a survey; perhaps you are applying for a job or you are already working with or for us; and if you place an order, we will have to be able to deliver it to you. We also use cookies on our websites – please see below.
What personal data do we process?
What personal data we exactly process will depend on the purpose and the nature of our contact. Such data may be:
- First name and surname
- Gender
- Telephone number
- Email address
- IP address
We try to limit the personal data about you that we collect and save to the necessary data. The use of tracking tools is only used to improve user experience and analyze web performance. Click behavior, mouse movements and screen captures may be stored up to a limited time and any personal data is shielded. For our shoppingpage, we reserve the right to store any information, other than your credit card number and avs code, that you enter on our website or provide us over the phone or in any other way. This includes address information and shopping choices. We use the information that you provide for such purposes as shipping your packages, responding to your requests, improving our selection, and communicating with you. We may also use that information for future marketing purposes. Our newsletter is entirely opt-in, and every newsletter we send has a link to automatically unsubscribe. If you do not want to receive email from us, simply let us know by emailing info@oldamsterdamcheesestore.com.
Are we permitted to process your personal data?
We mostly process your personal data on the basis of consent, or, if necessary, for the performance of an agreement. In general, you personally provide the data to us or to our partner (for example, shop or marketing agency) or you click on the cookie banner. In exceptional cases, for example, when your company provides a service, we receive the data from your employer in the context of your employment.
When we process on the basis of consent, you can also withdraw this consent through privacy@westland-kaas.nl.
What do we do for the protection of the personal data?
We take appropriate measures for the prevention of misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorised change of your personal data. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. We reveal only a fragment of your credit card number when confirming an order. Information stored in our customer database is protected using state-of-the-art security methods. If you feel that your personal data has not been properly secured or if there are any indications of misuse, please contact us through privacy@westland-kaas.nl.
Where is your personal data going to?
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We only provide your personal data to third parties if this is necessary for meeting a legal obligation, when you have given your consent, for the performance of an agreement, for answering your questions or for sending you a prize when you have won a competition. We conclude a processing agreement with the companies that process your personal data on our instructions, to ensure the same level of protection and confidentiality of your personal data. We remain responsible for these processing operations. Westland Kaas Provides your shipping information to PostNL, DHL, UPS or FedEx to ship the product. It is generally sent by secure email, secure http or secure ftp. We securely transmit your credit card data to the appropriate credit card company during order processing. As web technology and the online operating environment are constantly evolving, we cannot accurately predict all future applications of the data we store about your order history. If you strongly oppose any use of your contact information other than what is needed to fulfill orders, please let us know by emailing us at privacy@westland-kaas.nl.
It is our policy to retain personal data within the EU, and we also require this from our partners and suppliers.
For how long do we retain the data?
We do not retain your personal data any longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was provided. Nor do we retain your personal data any longer than permitted on the basis of the relevant statutory retention periods.
How can you access, adjust or delete your personal data?
You have the right to access, rectify or delete your personal data. In addition, you have the right to withdraw any consent for the data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by us, and you have the right to data portability. This means that you can submit a request to us to forward the personal data that we process of you in a computer file to you or to another organisation stated by you.
You can send a request for exercising your rights (access, rectification, deletion, data portability of your personal data, a request for withdrawal of your consent or an objection to the processing of your personal data) to privacy@westland-kaas.nl.
We ask you to forward a copy of your identity document along with the request to make sure that the request for access was actually made by you. Please note: black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and citizen service number (Dutch BSN) in this copy. This is for the protection of your privacy. We will respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event no later than within four weeks.
What are cookies doing?
We use technical cookies, functional cookies and analytical cookies which do not involve the processing of personal data. A cookie is a small text file that is saved to your computer, tablet or smartphone when you first visit this website. The cookies that we use are necessary for the technical functioning of the website and for your ease of use. They ensure that the website works properly and remember, for example, your preferred settings. We can also optimise our website with cookies. For our store page, the cookies simply enable our website to recognize who you are in order to offer you a personalized greeting or determine your membership in our loyalty program. We also use cookies to store items in your shopping cart before checkout. You can opt out of cookies by setting your internet browser in such a manner that it will no longer save cookies. In addition, you can adjust your browser settings to delete all information that was saved earlier.
